The Friends of the Princeton University Library have announced the 2026–2027 Library Research Grants, inviting scholars from around the world to apply for short-term funding to explore Princeton’s world-class special and distinctive collections.
Aim
The grant programme is designed for researchers who wish to engage deeply with Princeton’s rare and unique holdings to produce innovative, underexplored studies in the humanities and cultural heritage fields.
Its broader goal is to support scholarship that expands global understanding of history, art and culture while reinforcing Princeton’s position as a leading hub for archival and academic research.
Funding details
Each successful applicant will receive a grant of up to $6,000, along with transportation support to cover travel expenses.
The funding is intended to support research stays of two to four weeks, covering accommodation and other on-site costs.
Non-U.S. citizens should note that 30% of their grant will be withheld for tax purposes, though a portion may be reclaimed through U.S. tax filings.

Preference will be given to applicants who do not have easy access to Princeton’s collections.
