Applications are now open for the 2025 cohort of the Africa Macroeconomic Analysts Programme (AMAP)—a capacity-building initiative designed to train the continent’s next generation of economic policymakers.

If you’re a final-year student or recent graduate passionate about shaping Africa’s economic future, AMAP offers the perfect opportunity to gain industry-relevant skills, hands-on experience and policy insights.

Through intensive training, applied research, expert mentorship and real-world policy engagement, AMAP equips young economists with the tools to analyse, interpret and address the economic challenges facing their countries and the broader continent.

Programme objectives

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be a national of Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Rwanda, Kenya, Zambia, or South Africa.

  • Be a final-year undergraduate or recent graduate in Economics or Political Science.

  • Hold a First-Class or Second-Class Upper (2:1) degree. Exceptional 2:2 candidates may also be considered.

Application requirements

Applicants must submit:

  • A curriculum vitae (CV).

  • Unofficial or official academic transcript

  • Two original essays written by the applicant (AI-generated content is strictly prohibited)

The objectives include building strong macroeconomic analytical capabilities, providing practical exposure through research projects, enhancing policy analysis and economic forecasting skills, as well as facilitating career mentorship and networking.

Eligibility criteria require applicants to be nationals of Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Rwanda, Kenya, Zambia, or South Africa, and to be final-year undergraduates or recent graduates in Economics or Political Science with a First-Class or Second-Class Upper degree. Exceptional candidates with a 2:2 grade may also be considered. Application requirements include the submission of a CV, academic transcripts, and two original essays, explicitly banning AI-generated content.
