The Federal Government has released an important update regarding the ongoing nationwide recruitment into the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), clarifying that shortlisting has not yet begun.
In a public notice dated Thursday, August 7, 2025, the government confirmed that the application portal remains open and will continue accepting submissions until Monday, August 11, 2025.
The statement urged applicants and the general public to disregard false information circulating online about any shortlist release or screening invitations.
“Dear Applicants, we are yet to commence shortlisting. The portal is still collecting applications until Monday 11th August 2025,” according to a tweet from the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).
The Federal Government also reiterated that the entire recruitment process is completely free and cautioned job seekers against fraudsters who may attempt to extort money under false pretences.
Since the portal opened in July 2025, hundreds of thousands of Nigerians have applied for the chance to serve in one of the country’s key paramilitary agencies:
-
Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS): Oversees the custody, welfare and rehabilitation of inmates.
-
Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS): Manages border security and enforces immigration laws.
-
Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC): Provides civil protection, disaster response and secures critical national infrastructure.
Applicants are strongly advised to rely only on verified government channels for updates—specifically the official recruitment portal at: https://recruitment.cdcfib.gov.ng and the agency’s official social media handles.
