The Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) has launched the third cohort of its Accelerator Programme, calling on startups across Nigeria to apply.

This initiative is designed to nurture innovation and promote the use of satellite and space-based technologies to solve real-world problems across various industries.

Aims of the Nigerian Communications Satellite

The NIGCOMSAT Accelerator Programme aims to support early-stage startups developing space-related or space-enabled solutions in sectors like agriculture, health, education, finance, and security.

The programme provides founders with a structured platform to refine their products, gain industry insights, and connect with potential investors and partners.

Funding and benefits

Selected startups will enjoy mentorship from experts in technology, business, and innovation.

They will also participate in workshops, capacity-building sessions, and hackathons, leading up to a demo day where founders pitch their products to investors.

In addition, startups gain media visibility, investment readiness training, and the opportunity to join a vibrant network of innovators shaping Nigeria’s digital and satellite ecosystem.

Who can apply?

The Nigerian Communications Satellite says the programme is open to early-stage startups that meet the following criteria:

  • Must be legally registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
  • Have a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) or prototype.
  • Demonstrate growth potential and scalability.
  • Operate a functional website or online presence.
  • Showcase innovation and originality in their solution.
  • Have a capable and dedicated founding team.
  • Submit a 1-minute video showcasing their developed product.

Sectors of interest

Applications are welcomed from startups working in key areas such as Agriculture, Health, Finance, Climate Change, AI, Telecommunications, Security, Robotics, Logistics, Mining, and other emerging technology sectors.

Startups using space-based components in their solutions are especially encouraged to apply.

Application requirements

Applicants must provide details about their startup, including a brief description of the problem being solved, solution overview, team size, founding year, and company address.

All participating startups are expected to commit fully to the programme schedule, including mentorship and workshop sessions.

Importantly, startups will retain ownership of their intellectual property.
