Nigerian Air Force opens 2025 applications—Here’s how to apply

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced the commencement of its 2025 Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) enlistment for graduates and postgraduates across various professions.

As stipulated in an official notice, the registration portal opens on Wednesday, 27 August 2025, and closes on Tuesday, 7 October 2025. 

The DSSC scheme allows graduates to serve as commissioned officers in specialised roles within the Air Force.

NAF eligibility criteria

To qualify for the Nigerian Air Force DSSC 2025 enlistment, applicants must:

  • Be citizens of Nigeria by birth.
  • The age limit is between 20 and 32 years, except for medical doctors who could be between the ages of 25 and 40 years at the time of the application. 
  • Only those not serving in any armed forces branch may apply (unless recommended by his/her commander after 10 years of service).
  • Meet minimum height requirements: 1.68 m (males), 1.63 m (females). 
  • Be physically, psychologically, and medically fit with no convictions for a criminal offence.

Academic and professional qualifications

  • Minimum of Second-Class Lower for degree holders or lower credit for HND holders.
  • Five (5) credit passes at SSCE (including English and Mathematics).
  • An NYSC discharge certificate or exemption letter is required upon application.
  • Professional certifications where applicable.
  • Medical graduates should provide evidence of full registration with their professional bodies.

Application guideline

Applicants must complete the forms online and print the following documents:

  • Acknowledgment Form
  • Parent/Guardian Consent Form
  • Local Government Area Attestation Form, completed and signed by any of the following:
  • Military officer (not below Wing Commander/equivalent)
  • Police officer (ACP or above)
  • Local Government Chairman/Secretary
  • Magistrate from applicant’s state of origin

The attestation must include the signatory’s passport photo and valid ID (driver’s licence, national ID, or international passport).

Selection process

  • Shortlisted applicants will sit for a zonal enlistment aptitude test (date to be announced).
  • Successful candidates will be invited for selection interviews.
  • Only valid online applications will be considered.

Eligibility criteria require applicants to be Nigerian citizens aged between 20 and 32 or 25 and 40 for medical doctors, not currently serving in any armed forces branch without a recommendation, and meeting physical and legal conditions.

Academic qualifications include a minimum of a second-class lower degree or lower credit for HND holders and at least five SSCE credit passes, including English and Mathematics. Applicants for the medical field must show full professional registration, while all need an NYSC discharge certificate or exemption. Applications are completed online, requiring acknowledgment, consent, and attestation forms. The latter must be signed by a high-ranking official, accompanied by a passport photo and valid ID.

The selection process includes a zonal aptitude test and subsequent interviews for successful candidates, with only valid online applications being considered. Interested applicants can apply through the official NAF recruitment portal.
