The Indigenous Women’s Programme Fellowship, offered by Land is Life, supports Indigenous women who are leading transformative change in their communities across Africa, Asia and the Americas.

The fellowship focuses on advancing land and resource rights, improving livelihoods and promoting gender equality and community well-being.

Focus

The programme aims to nurture the next generation of Indigenous women leaders by supporting those driving innovative initiatives in their territories and sectors.

Fellows will engage in community-based projects, receive mentorship, build networks, and strengthen their advocacy and leadership skills.

Benefits

Selected fellows will receive a stipend of US $3,600 for the year and additional funding of up to US $3,000 to implement a community-level project.

Other benefits include:

  • One-on-one mentoring from experienced Indigenous women leaders.

  • Monthly training sessions on Indigenous rights and leadership development.

  • Networking opportunities at local, regional and global levels.

Who can apply

  • Indigenous women aged 18 to 35

  • Applicants who have not previously been Land is Life fellows

How to apply

Interested candidates must complete the application form and submit a project proposal focused on advancing the rights of Indigenous Peoples, with special attention to Indigenous women and girls.

Eligible projects may address themes such as:

  • Capacity building and governance

  • Biodiversity or climate action

  • Improved livelihoods

  • Leadership development and community participation

Deadline

The registration period for the 2026 fellowship cohort opens on October 6 and closes on November 5, 2025.
Results will be announced by January 5, 2026, while the fellowship will commence on January 12, 2026.
