Continental Reinsurance Plc has announced the opening of entries for the 11th edition of the Pan-African Re/Insurance Journalism Awards, which celebrate journalists advancing public understanding of insurance, risk and resilience across Africa.

The annual awards recognise outstanding reporting that makes the insurance and reinsurance industries more visible, relatable and accessible to the general public.

Focus

The awards aim to promote responsible, insightful journalism that highlights how insurance supports individuals, businesses and communities in times of uncertainty.

By rewarding compelling, well-researched stories, the programme seeks to strengthen awareness of the insurance sector’s role in driving financial security and economic stability across the continent.

Award categories

The 2026 edition features the following categories:

● Best Re/Insurance Print Entry (English)
● Best Re/Insurance Online Entry (English)
● Best Re/Insurance Broadcast Entry (TV/Radio) (English)
● Best Re/Insurance French Entry (Print, Broadcast or Online)
● Best Re/Insurance Arabic Entry (Print, Broadcast or Online)
● New Category: Best Re/Insurance Social Media Entry (English, French or Arabic)

Benefits

Winners will receive fully funded travel and accommodation to attend the awards ceremony in April 2026.

They will also gain continental exposure through Continental Re’s publications and digital platforms. Beyond recognition, the awards offer recipients valuable opportunities to expand their professional networks and strengthen their reputation across the media and insurance sectors.

Eligibility

The call is open to journalists and content creators based in any African country who meet the following criteria:

● Must reside and work in Africa.
● Must have published or broadcast work in English, French, or Arabic.
● May submit only one entry per category.

Entries must have been published or aired within 12 months prior to the submission deadline. Eligible platforms include print, online, broadcast (TV or radio) and social media.

Requirements

Applicants must submit:

  1. Full name and media organisation

  2. Date of publication or broadcast

  3. A brief professional profile (50–100 words)

  4. A recent photograph

Entries will be evaluated by a panel of media and industry experts based on clarity, accuracy, originality, and contribution to public understanding of insurance and reinsurance.
