Emmanuel College is now accepting applications for its 2026 Artist-in-Residence Programme, a six-week residency that provides artists with dedicated time, space and resources to develop new or ongoing work.

Focus areas

The programme supports four artistic categories—Ceramics, Photography, Printmaking and Social Practice—with one resident selected in each discipline.

Its goal is to encourage diverse artistic practices while enriching the college’s creative environment. By bringing together artists from different fields, the residency fosters dialogue, experimentation and the cross-pollination of ideas.

Funding details

Selected artists receive a $1,500 stipend, with international participants eligible for up to an additional $1,000 to cover travel and visa-related expenses.

Residents are accommodated in campus dormitories and granted full access to shared facilities, including the Ceramics Studio, Print Shop, Photography Studio, Darkroom, Design Lab, and Wood Shop. A studio manager is available throughout the residency to provide technical and logistical support.

Eligibility

This opportunity is designed for artists who can commit uninterrupted time to their practice within a campus setting.

Applicants must not be enrolled in any academic programme, must be able to reside on campus for the full duration of the residency and must have conversational proficiency in English. While participants are responsible for their own materials and food costs, the residency offers a quiet and flexible summer working environment.

Who can apply

Applicants must:

  • Work in Ceramics, Photography, Printmaking or Social Practice.

  • Be established or emerging artists not currently enrolled in an academic programme.

  • Remain on-site for the full residency period (June 8 – July 19, 2026).

  • Demonstrate conversational English proficiency.

  • Secure the appropriate visa if applying internationally.

  • Be willing to donate a final work to Emmanuel College.

Deadline

Applications are due on January 15, 2026. Interested artists should apply via the Emmanuel College website.
