The GLFx initiative has announced a new call for proposals to strengthen local environmental action across Africa.

The programme aims to support the creation and growth of GLFx chapters—community-driven groups working to advance sustainability within Africa’s most critical landscapes.

Its core mission is to identify and partner with locally rooted organisations that are making tangible impacts on the ground, helping them amplify their reach, share knowledge globally and drive transformative change.

GLFx chapters typically focus on community stewardship, ecosystem restoration, and other environmentally sustainable activities that promote long-term resilience.

Benefits

Successful applicants will receive seed funding of €5,000 to launch or expand their proposed activities.

In addition, selected chapters will gain access to the Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) network, which offers:

  • Global networking opportunities

  • Peer learning and mentorship

  • Media visibility and storytelling support

  • Opportunities to showcase local impact on international platforms

Who can apply

This call is designed for community-based organisations deeply rooted in their local context and committed to sustainability.

Applicants must:

  • Be locally led and community-oriented.

  • Operate within the region where their work is based.

  • Focus on sustainable land use, climate resilience, and social inclusion.

  • Have the capacity to manage funds and maintain a formal administrative structure.

Project requirements

Proposed projects should address key environmental priorities, such as:

  • Ecosystem restoration

  • Biodiversity conservation

  • Agroforestry implementation

  • Soil recovery and land rehabilitation

Selected chapters will collaborate regularly with the GLF team and other GLFx chapters, share progress updates, participate in joint learning and funding opportunities and help highlight local innovations to global audiences.
