The Democracy at Work Fund (DAWF) is launching a new initiative that pools support from multiple financial backers to amplify the voices of labour movements confronting social, economic and environmental challenges today.

The fund primarily targets efforts operating at the intersection of workers’ rights, racial justice, gender justice and climate justice to promote equitable labour systems worldwide

Priority areas

The fund specifically seeks grassroots labour groups working across three interconnected areas—strengthening advocacy for fair working conditions, encouraging collective partnerships with social justice movements and, finally, confronting climate change and rising gender-based violence.

Eligibility criteria

The fund is open to projects led directly by workers in the informal economy, including those by women and underrepresented groups, from the following countries:

  • Bangladesh
  • Indonesia
  • Kenya
  • South Africa
  • Argentina
  • Brazil

Successful applicants can apply for amounts ranging from a minimum of USD 10,000 up to a maximum of USD 80,000. Projects are expected to run for a duration between six and eighteen months, with implementation to begin in February 2026.
