The ClimaFii Alliance has opened applications for early-stage startups working at the intersection of climate innovation and inclusive finance across Sub-Saharan Africa. The programme is structured as a long-term venture support and catalytic capital initiative rather than a one-off grant.
Aim
The programme aims to help microenterprises overcome persistent challenges such as unreliable electricity, high fuel costs, post-harvest losses and inefficient transport systems. ClimaFii supports solutions that boost productivity, increase incomes, and reduce emissions and pollution.
Clean energy and electric mobility innovations supported under the programme are expected to strengthen climate resilience while improving livelihoods, with a particular focus on women-led microenterprises.
Funding details
Selected startups in the Sub-Saharan Africa cohort will receive between $45,000 and $70,000 in catalytic capital. The funding is intended to help companies test and refine their business models, expand market reach and reduce early-stage investment risk.
Beyond capital, the programme offers hands-on venture support in areas such as pricing, unit economics, operations, go-to-market strategy and pathways to scale.
Sectors and solutions supported
The programme supports six core solution areas, including:
-
Clean energy and energy storage.
-
Productive-use and post-harvest energy solutions.
-
Electric mobility for small logistics providers.
-
Circular economy and waste-to-energy models.
-
Fintech and shared-economy platforms.
-
Technologies enabling nature-based solutions.
All supported solutions must clearly demonstrate a link between climate impact and income growth for microenterprises.
