The Social & Inclusive Business Camp (SIBC 2026) has officially launched its call for applications, targeting a new wave of East African social entrepreneurs.
This edition focuses specifically on the “Energy Transition,” seeking innovators who are ready to scale solutions that address pressing environmental and social challenges.
Since its inception in 2017, the SIBC has served as a launchpad for nearly 350 entrepreneurs across the continent.
The 2026 program aims to select a mixed cohort of 50 project leaders, with 10 representatives chosen from each of the five participating countries: Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia and Tanzania.
The curriculum is tailored for businesses operating in critical energy sub-sectors, including clean cooking, renewable energy and energy efficiency.
By providing a blend of local support and international expertise, the program aims to maximize the social and environmental impact of these growing ventures.
Benefits
Participants will engage in a hybrid support program that begins with six months of intensive online coaching.
This phase includes interactive virtual classes led by international experts and a suite of self-paced learning resources designed to build long-term business capacity.
A major highlight of the program is a one-week intensive bootcamp held in Nairobi, Kenya. This immersive experience allows entrepreneurs to meet peers, experts and investors, while also providing the unique opportunity to participate in the Africa-France Summit.
Furthermore, fellows receive one-on-one mentoring from experienced entrepreneurs who have previously completed the SIBC program.
Application requirements
To be eligible, applicants must hold a high-responsibility position, such as founder or director, within an organization that has been active for at least three years.
The enterprise must be legally registered in one of the five target East African nations.
The program is restricted to organizations that derive all or part of their income from commercial activities while maintaining a clear social or environmental mission.
Additionally, the business should be currently developing in new territories at either the national or international level.
Eligible sub-sectors for this cycle include on-grid and off-grid energy access, energy sufficiency, and renewable energy technologies.
Deadline
Entrepreneurs who meet these criteria are encouraged to apply through the official online portal to join the 2026 cohort. All application materials must be submitted no later than the January 26, 2026 deadline. Click here to apply. Explore more global calls on our Opportunities page.
