The Club of Rome has officially opened applications for its 2026 Communications Fellowship, a specialized program designed to amplify diverse voices in the global sustainability dialogue.
This initiative invites early-career professionals to join a seven-month journey focused on translating complex systems thinking into accessible narratives for the public.
The Club of Rome Communication Fellowship serves as a remote placement, allowing participants to work from their home environments while collaborating directly with the organization’s international communications team.
Two positions are available for candidates who are passionate about using multimedia and social media to spark meaningful global change.
Selected fellows will assist with a variety of high-impact tasks, including web publishing, media outreach, and event coverage.
By bridging the gap between scientific research and public understanding, the program aims to foster a more sustainable and equitable world.
Funding and benefits
Participants will receive a modest stipend to assist with living costs, with the specific amount dependent on the fellow’s geographic location.
The program is structured as a full-time commitment, requiring 36 hours of work per week from Monday to Friday.
The fellowship includes paid leave for 10 days and covers all costs associated with work-related travel.
This includes a funded trip to meet the Club of Rome team in person, providing an invaluable opportunity for professional networking and face-to-face mentorship.
Beyond financial support, fellows gain hands-on experience in multimedia production and digital strategy within a globally recognized platform.
The program runs from 1 July 2026 to 31 January 2027, offering a comprehensive immersion into the world of professional science communication.
Application requirements and eligibility
Eligibility is strictly limited to residents of countries in the “Most of the World” regions, including Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. Applicants should ideally hold a bachelor’s degree in journalism or science, though current students in science journalism programs are also encouraged to apply.
Candidates must demonstrate written and oral fluency in English and possess a proven ability to understand complex scientific research.
The selection committee is specifically looking for individuals with experience in writing about sustainability or producing creative multimedia content.
While the use of AI tools like ChatGPT is permitted for drafting, the Club of Rome emphasizes that applications must reflect the candidate’s authentic voice and style.
Submissions must include a writing or multimedia sample that best demonstrates the applicant’s relevance to the fellowship’s mission.
Deadline
All application forms and supporting materials must be submitted through the official portal by 20 February 2026 at 23:59 CET.
Due to the high volume of interest, the committee will not consider late, incomplete, or non-English applications.
