BloombergNEF (BNEF) is inviting applications for its annual Pioneers programme that accelerates groundbreaking climate-tech innovations. The initiative seeks scalable technologies that can foster the global transition to a net-zero economy.
Benefits
Winners will be recognised as BNEF Pioneers on the official website and in marketing materials. They will receive a one-year subscription to BNEF’s valuable research service and will get the opportunity to present at a BNEF Summit. An additional benefit is a membership in the exclusive Pioneers alumni community.
Who is eligible?
The competition is open to both for-profit and non-profit companies that are developing novel climate solutions. Applicants must be independent entities and not subsidiaries of larger corporations that meet the following criteria:
- The company must be in its early stages of development.
- The innovation must be past the initial research and development phase but not yet widely adopted in the market.
- The technology or business model must be new, able to be scaled up, and competitive.
- The solution must have the potential to make a significant impact on achieving net-zero goals.
How to apply
Innovators must submit their applications through the official BNEF Pioneers online portal. Applicants are expected to demonstrate how their technology or business model addresses one of the three specific 2024 challenges: decarbonizing heavy industry, building a net-zero food system, or scaling long-duration energy storage.
Companies with impactful solutions that fall outside these categories can also apply as a “Wildcard” entry.
Deadline
All applications are due on October 24, 2025. Winners will be announced in April 2026. For more information, visit the BloombergNEF website.
