Scholars from Big Ten Academic Alliance universities now have the chance to take their research to new heights through a fellowship programme with the world-renowned Smithsonian Institution.
This fellowship offers access to unparalleled collections, resources, and leading experts across diverse fields. It is designed to spark groundbreaking, interdisciplinary research while building stronger collaborations between Big Ten scholars and Smithsonian researchers.
Fellowship benefits

Pre-doctoral fellows: $40,000 annual stipend

Postdoctoral & senior fellows: $55,000 annual stipend

Research allowance: Up to $5,000 per year

Duration: 3–10 months
Eligibility
-
Graduate students: Must be enrolled in a graduate degree programme at a Big Ten Academic Alliance university.

Postdoctoral researchers: Must have earned their doctorate within the last 7 years from a Big Ten Academic Alliance university.

Senior scholars: Must be current faculty members at a Big Ten Academic Alliance university.
