The Science by Women Programme has officially opened its 2025 call for applications, aimed at strengthening scientific leadership among African women researchers.
This prestigious initiative offers access to leading Spanish research centres, fostering international collaboration, mentorship and knowledge exchange. Its core mission is to build scientific capacity across Africa while integrating women researchers into global research networks.

The programme focuses on addressing some of the world’s most pressing challenges through high-level research stays in Spain. Priority areas include:

Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and Digital Security
Funding details
Selected fellows will undertake a six-month research stay at a top Spanish host institution.
The award package includes:

Round-trip airfare and visa fees fully covered.

Monthly stipend of €2,400 for accommodation, living expenses and local transport.

Comprehensive medical insurance for the duration of the stay.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:

Be African women researchers currently residing and working in Africa.

Hold a PhD degree with at least three years of postdoctoral experience.

Maintain a contractual affiliation with a recognised African university or research institution.

Demonstrate proficiency in English.

Present a strong academic and professional background aligned with the programme’s focus areas.
