The Blue Corridors for Turtles Small Grants Fund is a funding opportunity that supports community-engaged research advancing marine turtle conservation worldwide.
Focus area
The fund supports projects that deepen understanding of how sea turtles move, connect and survive across regions.
By integrating movement tracking and genetic data, the initiative seeks to identify critical habitats and migratory corridors essential for long-term protection and more effective marine conservation planning.
Funding details
A total of USD 35,000 is available across selected projects, along with five satellite transmitters.
Individual project budgets must not exceed USD 7,500. Proposals requesting USD 3,000 or less are strongly encouraged to enable broader support across multiple regions and turtle species.
Proposal requirements
Funded projects should address key knowledge gaps related to nesting beaches, foraging grounds, migration routes or genetic connectivity.
Grant support may also be used to analyse or publish existing datasets, ensuring that findings contribute to the global evidence base rather than routine monitoring alone.
Who is eligible
Applications are open to organisations and community groups actively involved in marine turtle conservation, including:
-
Registered non-profit organisations.
-
Legally recognised associations.
-
Local or community-based conservation groups.
Each organisation may submit one proposal only.
Selection guidelines
Applicants are encouraged to submit flexible budgets to accommodate partial funding where applicable.
Selections will aim to support a diversity of turtle species and geographic regions, balancing scientific merit, local relevance and contribution to global conservation knowledge.
Deadline
The application deadline is January 31, 2026. Interested applicants can apply via the SWOT website. Explore our Opportunities page for similar research grants.
