Ericsson, in collaboration with the Federal Government of Nigeria and Tech Revolution Africa, has officially launched the Connect NextGen Hackathon.

This national innovation initiative is designed to identify and scale early-stage technology startups that are building solutions for the continent’s most pressing challenges.

Through an intensive dual-phase program, selected startups will transition from a hackathon environment into a dedicated acceleration track.

The organizers aim to spotlight breakthroughs in critical sectors ranging from telecommunications and fintech to AI/ML and cleantech.

The program seeks to transform raw ideas into sustainable, impact-driven ventures by providing startups with high-level exposure.

This initiative is positioned as a major platform for entrepreneurs looking to turn local innovation into regional impact.

Funding and benefits

Participation in the Connect NextGen Hackathon is completely free for all selected startups, with no application or participation fees required.

Once enrolled, founders enter an 8-week intensive acceleration program led by seasoned industry experts.

Startups will receive specialized technical and business mentorship to refine their models and scale their operations.

Furthermore, the program provides direct visibility through media partners and ecosystem platforms, ensuring that participants gain the attention of key market stakeholders.

The initiative culminates in a live Demo Day, where founders have the opportunity to pitch their solutions directly to investor networks.

This exposure is paired with privileged networking opportunities involving government and corporate leaders.

Application requirements and eligibility

To be considered for the 2026 cohort, startups must be currently operating in Nigeria. Candidates are required to possess a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and must be able to demonstrate measurable traction or results from pilot usage.

The selection committee places a high priority on diversity, requiring all applicant teams to be gender-inclusive in their composition.

The program is specifically looking for innovators who can show how their technology—whether in HealthTech, EdTech, or IoT—drives better decisions or improves access for citizens.

Deadline

The application window is currently open, having launched on February 11, 2026. Interested entrepreneurs must complete their submissions through the official portal before the strict deadline on March 10, 2026.
