The Climate Intervention Environmental Impact Fund (CIEIF) supports groundbreaking climate intervention technologies that are ready for field testing.
The CIEIF grant programme aims to empower researchers developing innovative solutions to combat climate change. It funds predictive environmental assessments, impact modelling and stakeholder engagement for small-scale field tests of new technologies.
The goal is to foster responsible innovation that can be safely and effectively scaled to deliver meaningful environmental benefits.
Funding details
Each selected project will receive a grant of $75,000 to support EIA, modelling and stakeholder engagement activities. The funding will help researchers perform thorough environmental assessments, create predictive models, and collaborate with local communities and regulatory bodies.
Eligibility
● Qualified investigators worldwide advancing climate intervention technologies nearing the field-testing phase
● Researchers with expertise in predictive environmental assessments, modeling studies or stakeholder engagement
● Projects must not involve technologies related to stratospheric Solar Radiation Management (SRM), Carbon Capture Utilization and Storage (CCUS) or Direct Air Capture (DAC)
Requirements
Applicants must submit a detailed proposal outlining how the grant funds will be used for environmental impact assessment, modelling and stakeholder engagement during the field test phase. Proposals should clearly demonstrate the research team’s expertise in one or more of these areas.
Selection criteria
CIEIF carefully reviews all applications, prioritising projects that demonstrate strong environmental rigour, community collaboration, and responsible innovation. Final decisions are made by the review panel and successful applicants will be notified directly.
Deadline
The next application deadline is March 15, 2026. Visit the CIEIF website to apply.
