President Buhari will be jetting off to the United Kingdom to attend the coronation of Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, who will both be crowned as His Majesty the King and Queen Consort of the Kingdom on Saturday, 6 May 2023.
The President will be joined by other notable Nigerian officials, including Boss Mustapha, the Secretary of the Government of the Federation, Geoffrey Onyema, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture.
In a statement by Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, it was revealed that Buhari will depart for London on Wednesday to participate in the coronation ceremony. The entourage will also include Rtd Maj.-Babagana Mungono, the National Security Adviser, Ambassador Ahmed Abubakar, the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Abike Dabiri Erewa, the Chairperson of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, and other senior Government officials.
President Buhari had previously visited Buckingham Palace on 10 November 2022, to strengthen Nigeria’s bilateral relationship with the United Kingdom. According to him, Prince Charles had spoken well of Nigeria and expressed a desire for the relationship to continue and improve.
In addition to the coronation, the Commonwealth Secretariat will host a Commonwealth Summit of Presidents and Heads of Government of Commonwealth countries on Friday, 5 May 2023, taking advantage of the presence of numerous world leaders in London.

Previously, Buhari visited Buckingham Palace on 10 November 2022, emphasizing the importance of Nigeria's bilateral relationship with the UK. Additionally, a Commonwealth Summit will be held on 5 May 2023 in London, coinciding with the presence of world leaders for the coronation.
