Native doctor kills 43-year-old man while test-running bulletproof charm

A 28-year-old native doctor, Danladi Ya’u of Damaiwa village in Bursali ward, Zaki Local Government Area of Bauchi State, has shot dead 43-year-old man  Muhammadu Ali while testing a bulletproof charm.

 Muhammadu was said to have gone to the Damaiwa bush with four people to test if a charm would protect him against gunshots.

The police in Bauchi State confirmed this in a bulletin through the Police Public Relations Officer or PPRO – SP Ahmed Wakili stating that the suspect (native doctor) and three other accomplices now at large, went to Damaiwa bush with the sole aim of testing a gunshot charm on one Muhammadu Murtala Ali.

“On 31/10/2023 at about 0830hrs, information was received from the Officer-in-charge of the Bursali Police Outstation under Zaki Division that one Danladi Ya’u, aged 28 of Damaiwa village via Bursali ward Zaki LGA, Bauchi State, a native doctor had committed an offence.”

The police spokesperson said while they were testing the said bulletproof charm, unfortunately, the bullet of the locally made gun penetrated, adding that by the time the victim was rushed to the hospital he gave the ghost.

“On receipt of the report, a team of detectives led by the DPO, Zaki Division swiftly swung into action, rushed to the scene, and evacuated the victim to the General Hospital, Jakusko in Yobe State for medical attention, where he was certified dead on arrival by a medical doctor.

“Consequently, two suspects were immediately arrested, and efforts have been intensified to trace and arrest the fleeing accomplices while the investigation is ongoing, after which the defendants will be charged to court.”

While calling on citizens to desist from such unwholesome practices, he said the Force will not cut corners in ensuring that justice is done.

A tragic incident occurred in Bauchi State, Nigeria, where a 28-year-old native doctor, Danladi Ya’u, shot and killed Muhammadu Ali, a 43-year-old man, while testing a bulletproof charm. Ali, accompanied by four others, had gone to Damaiwa bush for the test. The police, led by PPRO SP Ahmed Wakili, confirmed that the locally made gun's bullet penetrated the charm. Despite being rushed to a hospital, Ali was declared dead on arrival.

The police arrested two suspects immediately, with efforts ongoing to capture the remaining accomplices. Authorities have urged citizens to refrain from such dangerous practices, emphasizing their commitment to ensuring justice is served.
