On September 23, 2023, OsitaPopcorn, a popular TikTok creator, shared a video from Lagos, Nigeria. He visited an old woman living in a simple house in a rural area. The house wasn’t in great shape, with water coming through, and the old woman said she pays 4,000 Naira in rent each month, earning only 1,000 Naira monthly.
OsitaPopcorn, curious to see more, asked for a tour. Inside, things were tough—the ceiling was broken, rainwater was collected in a blue drum that was on one corner, and she used one room for sleeping while she cooked in the other with stones and wood.
After the visit, OsitaPopcorn gave the old woman 50,000 Naira and promised to come back. Three days later, he posted another video visiting a similar house, this time with a woman paying 3,000 Naira in rent. She used sawdust to keep water out. OsitaPopcorn introduced two children, Nzubechi and Chimamanda, sitting on the floor.
Their mom makes a living by recycling cotton and plastics, earning around 5,000 to 10,000 Naira each month. Ositapopcorn gave her a generous gift of 50,000 Naira and pledged to find her a new place to live.
The videos of these heartwarming acts reached a massive audience, gathering over 23 million views, 113,000 likes, and 31,000 comments from caring people worldwide.
The Promise
On October 16, 2023, a video was released of Ositapopcorn visiting Nzubechi and Chimamanda’s mother.
This time, she tied a wrapper over her chest and was hovering over what appeared to be freshly washed clothes as Ositapopcorn arrived.
“You are welcome,” she beamed happily
“I have a very big surprise for you. This is a special surprise. Go prepare,” Ositapopcorn told her
The squealing woman rushed to change her clothes. The next scene was that of the children and her, dressed to go out.
Ositapopcorn took them to a fence gate and showed them a nicely built house.
The children couldn’t help but beam from ear to ear at the sight of the new home. They giggled when they felt the fresh water from the kitchen tap and jumped happily on the bed in their new bedroom.
The woman moved to tears and said, “No more sleeping in water house. No more mosquito bite,”
However, Ositapopcorn said he had another surprise for her. She clapped excitedly and looked at the heavens in appreciation.
He took her to a new shop and handed her the sum of one million naira.
The scene closed with her praying profusely for him and everyone who donated.
The Return
For the old woman, her moment was to come.
November 4, 2023, Ositapopcorn unveiled the old woman’s new house.

“… because this place is my land; that is why I told you guys to build this for me here. I cannot go somewhere else because I am old now,”
The old woman affirmed that she wanted to spend the rest of her life there, and Ositapopcorn wished her the best in her new home.
