What was expected to be a routine third childbirth for Abiodun and Sodiq Olayode turned into a huge surprise after the couple welcomed quadruplets instead. Their 4-member family expanded to eight overnight, exacting a huge toll on the small-income household. The babies were reported to use 105 diapers in just six days.

News of the Oloyedes’ circumstances was first shared on social media by Sodiq’s colleague, James, known as @jamysax on X (formerly Twitter). He detailed the family’s immediate challenges in a humorous post that sparked empathy and fundraising efforts from the online community.

A colleague of mine who had two kids already said he should do and add one more. Guess how many his wife gave birth to? 4 at once (quadruplets). The man wan craze. Na so so lament for status every day,” James posted.

Shortly afterwards, the Olayodes received an outpouring of support from the X community, totaling over N19 million in money donations. Among the donors was the telecommunications giant, Airtel, which doled out N2 million, likening it to their “overjara” bundle. “When life gives quadruplets,” Airtel tweeted, “we give #ovajara support! We’re adding N2m because great things come in multiples.”

In addition to financial aid, the family received a multitude of practical donations. Milk Booster, a company dedicated to enhancing breast milk production, offered essential breastfeeding items, including breast pumps, as well as other essential goods to ensure the well-being of the mother and the newborns. Volunteers also provided a six-month supply of diapers, foodstuffs, and baby items, pledging a monthly salary of N100,000 for a year to support household expenses and hiring assistance.

To ensure the sustainable management of these resources, a top finance expert offered to create a financial plan for the Oloyedes.

James, who runs a bespoke clothing and footwear brand, also shared in the bounty for his noble intentions, as netizens reposted his business page, increasing the visibility of his brand. “God really comes through when you care for others. Thank you everyone who shared my brand @shopjase , I am grateful,” James expressed.

“Total money received: N19,035,821 (Airtel inclusive), with more alerts still coming in. Thank you, everyone. God bless you,” James shared on X in a latest update of the overall contributions. These donations, along with other relief packages, have been handed to the family.

The outpouring of support marked a positive turn in the lives of the Oloyedes and their quadruplets named Aadil, Riaz, Amani, and Raina,
