Candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has been declared the winner of last Saturday’s presidential election in Anambra State.
Obi polled 584,621 votes, while the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, came a distant second with 9036 votes.
APGA candidate, Justice Peter Umeadi, polled 7388 votes while APC candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, garnered 5111.
Obi has also been declared the winner of the presidential election in Ebonyi State, scoring 259,738 votes to beat the candidate of the APC who polled 42,402, while PDP’s candidate came third with 13,503 votes.
In a related development, the candidate of the Labour Party for Awka North and South Federal Constituency of Anambra State, Professor Lilian Orogbu, won last Saturday’s National Assembly election.
Lilian, a strategic human resource management professor at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, polled 34,713 votes to beat the APGA candidate, Obi Nwankwor, who scored 24,814.
According to the result announced by the returning officer, Uche Nriagu, candidate of the PDP, Emeka Igwe, polled 12,850 votes to come third, while YPP’s Kingsley Uyamadu garnered 2,042.
In an interview, the member-elect pledged to offer quality representation to the constituents, even as she urged INEC to put measures in place to address the challenges noticed during the election as many electorates were disenfranchised due to the late arrival of materials.

In the National Assembly election for Awka North and South Federal Constituency, Labour Party's Professor Lilian Orogbu emerged victorious with 34,713 votes, defeating APGA's Obi Nwankwor who scored 24,814 votes. PDP's Emeka Igwe gathered 12,850 votes, and YPP's Kingsley Uyamadu got 2,042 votes.
In a post-election interview, Orogbu pledged to provide quality representation and urged INEC to address logistical issues that led to the disenfranchisement of many voters.
