The Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency or NDLEA has busted a factory producing a new type of psychoactive drug called Akuskura in Mubi, Adamawa state.
The agency in a statement signed by Femi Babafemi, Director, Media & Advocacy of the agency, said men of the agency, acting on actionable intelligence information busted the factory, which supplies illicit drugs to neighboring countries.
According to the statement, the NDLEA “raided a clandestine factory in Mubi, where a new psychoactive substance Akuskura, was being produced in large quantity and distributed to Chad, Cameroon, and the Niger Republic. At the time of the raid, production activities were ongoing in the premises.”
The agency further revealed that it seized 126 parcels of Canadian Loud weighing 63 kilograms at the Tincan port and intercepted another 63kg of Canadian Loud packaged in the boot of five cars marked TLLU4840762 at the same port. The cars were coming from Toronto via Montreal.
The agency also said “operatives recovered 859 bottles of Codeine based Syrup weighing 117.3kg abandoned by a suspected dealer about two kilometers away from NDLEA checkpoint along Enugu – Otukpo road, ” and “two suspects: Kabiru Muhammed, 35, and Isah Muhammed, 28, were arrested with 20 blocks of cannabis weighing 11.2kg concealed in a bag of cassava flakes (garri) along Zaria-Kano road, Kano.”
In the statement, Mohammed Buba, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA commended the officers and men of various NDLEA commands across the country for their vigilance and professionalism in the discharge of their duties, asking them not to rest on their oars.

Additionally, the operatives recovered 859 bottles of Codeine-based syrup weighing 117.3kg abandoned near an NDLEA checkpoint, and arrested two suspects with 20 blocks of cannabis disguised in a bag of cassava flakes along the Zaria-Kano road.
NDLEA Chairman, Mohammed Buba, praised the vigilance and professionalism of the NDLEA officers and urged them to continue their diligent work.
