FG begins expansion of Shehu Musa Yar’adua Airport in Katsina

To promote economic development and prepare an improvement in the number of visitors to the state, the Federal Government has began the expansion of the  Shehu Musa Yar’adua Airport in Katsina State.

Senator Hadi Sirika, the Minister of Aviation,  said the airport expansion project will leave the airport as a landmark to be treasured by the people of the state and Nigeria at large.

The minister who was speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony said; “One of the reasons that constitute the expansion of this airport is to stop the servicing and maintenance of fire trucks abroad because the expansion will include construction of fire truck maintenance, overhaul, and repair center.       

“Also, construction of Cargo terminal, construction of new terminal building and runway. Another advantage is the economic value of the facilities, job opportunities will be created and the economy of Katsina will surely improve,” said the Minister.

Siriki that 70% of the total fund allocated for the project has been paid to the contractors, and also the equipment for the maintenance and repair of Canter of fire trucks is available and there should be a reason for the delay in the project. He added that the extension would help security forces in the Northern area, among other things.   

 

The Federal Government has initiated the expansion of the Shehu Musa Yar'adua Airport in Katsina State to spur economic growth and increase visitors to the region. Aviation Minister Senator Hadi Sirika highlighted that the project would create significant landmarks and include facilities such as a fire truck maintenance center, cargo terminal, new terminal building, and runway enhancements.

These developments are expected to generate employment and boost Katsina's economy. Sirika mentioned that 70% of the needed funds for the project have already been paid to contractors, with the necessary equipment for fire truck maintenance in place, ensuring no delays. The extension will also benefit security operations in Northern Nigeria.
