Nigeria’s apex court has fixed tomorrow, May 9  to deliver judgment in the case against the election of Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party or PDP as the winner of the governorship election in Osun State.

In an appeal filed by former Osun Governor, Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressive Congress or APC, Oyetola is asking the Supreme Court to set aside the judgment of the Appeal Court and declare him as the elected governor of the state.

After hearing arguments from both parties, the five-member panel of the court told lawyers and interested parties that judgment would be delivered tomorrow.

It could be recalled that The Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal on January 27,  nullified the declaration of Adeleke as the winner of the July 16, 2022 polls, and instead declared Oyetola the winner of the election. Later, the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on March 24, vacated the Tribunal judgment, insisting that Adeleke fulfilled all requirements to be declared a winner.

Oyetola is challenging the decision of the appeal court and is asking the supreme court to declare him the winner of the polls.
