Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu has expressed satisfaction as over 80,000 candidates sat for the rescheduled Unified tertiary matriculation examination or UTME.
The Minister, alongside the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board professor Ishaq Oloyede, monitored the examination at the Computer Based Test Center located in Mambilla Barracks, Asokoro, Abuja.
According to the board, about 80,000 candidates who could not sit for the 2023 UTME within their scheduled date and time, sat for the rescheduled examination across the country.
The candidates affected include those who were verified at their various centers, but could not sit for the examination, those with mismatched data, and those who could not be verified biometrically,
Fabian Benjamin, The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s Head of Public Affairs and Protocol, in an interview, said that the deployment of innovations in the conduct of the examination paid up bountifully as the exercise recorded the lowest cases of infractions.
After putting figures together, 586,765 candidates indicated their interest in sitting for the 2023 UTME.
