Candidate of the Labour Party in the just concluded presidential election, Peter Obi says he must someday become the president of Nigeria.
Peter Obi stated this at the unveiling of the book, ‘Peter Obi: many voices, one perspective,’ a compendium of his exploits before venturing into politics and in politics.
He reiterated the need to always stand for the truth in the quest to build a new Nigeria.
“Anarchy consumes everybody. One day, this thing we are doing in this country will consume all of us. We need to start thinking about what are we going to do to have a better country.”
“Anybody who thinks I am on transit is wasting his time. I must be the president of this country. If it is not today, it will be tomorrow. I am not desperate. I am not worried. It’s our country. I urge all of you to remain prayerful and peaceful” he pleaded.
Obi also vowed to accept the decision of the Judiciary. “Whatever is the decision of the court, I will respect it. For me in my mind, I know I will get to the destination”.
Lead Editor of the book, Prof. Chinyere Stella Okunna’s in address of welcome, described it as capturing everything about the man, Peter Obi.
“We are not saying that Peter Obi is a saint. But he stands out in integrity. Nigeria is richly blessed if this man becomes President.
“Whatever we realize here will be channelled into the ongoing litigation. I am hopeful that the ongoing litigation will end well. And that the truth will come out.”
In his remarks, Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, the Chairman, Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, described Obi as a man of destiny, whose progress in life reflects the hand of God upon him.
“It’s not by his works or by his power,” he submitted.
The event attracted traditional rulers, politicians, cabinet members during Obi’s tenure as governor, his friends and admirers, who donated various sums of money.

The event was attended by traditional rulers, politicians, and admirers who contributed funds.
