Earth Journalism Network or EJN is offering reporting grants to journalists in East Africa to support the production of in-depth, solutions-focused stories on wildlife and conservation issues.
Specifically, this grant will be offered to 10 journalists in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda to report on wildlife trafficking, conservation and protection efforts. About US$800 will be given to selected journalists to cover travel and field reporting costs.
Using the budget template, applicants are expected to provide a detailed budget with justification for the amount requested and provide a letter of support from their editor, “explicitly stating that the media outlet will publish the stories produced as a result of this grant.” Interested journalists are to apply by February 9, 2022.
The opportunity, jointly funded by the US Department of Interior and the US Agency for International Development, is given as part of EJN’s East Africa Wildlife Journalism project implemented by Internews’ Earth Journalism Network.
