The CAP Foundation has launched its latest funding cycle for the Global Pathology Development Grant, an initiative designed to bolster laboratory services in under-resourced regions worldwide.

This grant aims to improve global health by supporting projects that expand the science and delivery of pathology through sustainable international projects.

Proposed projects should focus on developing or sustaining pathology services via education, training, patient care, or enhanced laboratory diagnostics.

The Foundation is specifically seeking impactful programs that offer technical guidance for labs or upgrade technologies to meet international quality standards.

Funding and benefits

Successful applicants may receive up to $10,000 USD to support their international initiatives.

This funding is specifically intended for organizations and individuals operating with limited budgets who are working to promote pathology services in under-resourced areas.

The grant supports a variety of activities, including the development of standard operating procedures, local capacity building for laboratory staff, and the expansion of anatomic or clinical pathology services.

It also provides for networking opportunities, such as forums focused on international laboratory quality issues.

Application requirements and eligibility

The grant is open to global healthcare organizations and pathologists actively providing pathology services in under-resourced areas.

Preference is given to U.S. 501(c)(3) organizations or international charitable non-profits, and while CAP membership is preferred, it is not strictly required for eligibility.

Applicants are required to submit a comprehensive project proposal, which must include a one-page executive summary and a detailed narrative of up to 3,000 words.

This narrative must outline specific goals and demonstrate how the project will be completed within a one-to-two-year timeframe.

Additional submission materials include a detailed budget, a letter of support from the applicant’s sponsoring institution, and professional curriculum vitae for all team members.

Applicants must also provide a professional headshot for potential use in web and print media.

Deadline

All application materials, including the required forms and project documentation, must be submitted to the CAP Foundation by the mid-summer cutoff.

The final deadline for all 2026 grant applications is July 15, 2026.
