The Presidential Precinct, in partnership with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, has officially opened applications for the 2026 Judicial Fellowship Program.

This prestigious professional exchange offers international judges a residential learning experience designed to strengthen judicial systems and foster a deeper understanding of the rule of law.

Scheduled to run from September 26 through October 10, 2026, the program features a high-level curriculum including interactive simulations at the University of Virginia and the National Center for State Courts.

Fellows will also engage in judicial site visits in Washington, D.C., highlighted by a visit to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Funding and benefits

This is a fully funded opportunity, with the program covering all travel, lodging, group meals, and admissions for the duration of the fellowship.

To assist with travel logistics, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation provides invited participants with a formal letter of invitation to support their visa applications.

Beyond financial support, participants will hone professional skills in mediation, opinion writing, and thought leadership.

The fellowship also provides tools for evaluating judicial performance and offers a unique platform to build an international network of peers committed to judicial integrity.

Application requirements and eligibility

The program specifically targets early- or mid-career judges and magistrates hailing from Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas.

Candidates must demonstrate a steadfast commitment to the rule of law and possess a proven record of leadership within their jurisdictions.

Eligible applicants must have five to seven years of experience presiding over criminal or civil cases and maintain a clear record of ethical conduct.

Furthermore, candidates are required to be proficient in English and must be eligible to obtain a U.S. visa.

Selected fellows are expected to be collaborative and willing to share the skills and perspectives gained during the program to advance legal reforms at home.

The selection process looks for individuals who can effectively advocate for internal reforms and uphold a rigorous judicial code of conduct.

Deadline

The application window is currently active and will close promptly on June 1, 2026, at 11:59 pm EST.

Prospective fellows will be notified of their application status by early to mid-July.
