The United Nations Office at Geneva has officially launched the search for participants for the 64th Graduate Study Programme (GSP), the longest-running educational initiative of the UN.
This prestigious two-week summer seminar, held at the Palais des Nations in Switzerland, invites young minds from around the world to immerse themselves in “International Geneva”.
Running from June 29 to July 10, 2026, the upcoming session will center on the theme “AI and Emerging Technologies: Realities, Risks and Opportunities”.
Participants will engage in a rigorous schedule consisting of lectures, presentations, and institutional visits to gain insights into how the UN navigates the rapidly evolving field of new technologies.
Since its inception 63 years ago, the GSP has served as a global platform, with nearly 3,500 young people from more than 120 countries successfully completing the curriculum.
The program emphasizes collaborative research and group work, fostering a network of future leaders dedicated to international cooperation.
Benefits
Participation in the Graduate Study Programme is free of charge, offering students access to high-level lectures and networking opportunities without a tuition fee.
While the seminar is not a job placement scheme, it provides valuable exposure to the inner workings of the United Nations and its partner institutions.
Applicants should be aware that the UN does not provide scholarships or sponsorships for travel or living costs.
Participants are responsible for all personal expenses, including airfare, visas, accommodation, and meals during their stay in Geneva.
Historically, some participants have successfully secured financial aid from their home universities, national governments, or foundations.
The UN encourages applicants to explore these external avenues for support, as it cannot offer individual advice on funding matters.
Application requirements and eligibility
The seminar is strictly open to currently enrolled graduate students aged 22 to 32 who are not employed full-time.
Eligible candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree and be pursuing a Master’s, MBA, PhD, or similar post-graduate qualification at the time of application.
Fluency in both written and spoken English is a mandatory requirement for all applicants. Candidates must submit a one-page CV, a 60-second motivation video, and a one-page recommendation letter, alongside proof of enrollment and their Bachelor’s diploma.
The selection committee evaluates applicants based on academic success, professional activities, and motivation statements.
Every effort is made to ensure equitable regional and gender representation within the final cohort.
Deadline
The application window is currently open and will close strictly at 12 noon Geneva time on February 20, 2026.
All documents must be uploaded through the official online portal, as late or emailed submissions will not be considered.
