New grants available for America’s 250th anniversary

The Netherlands has officially opened a call for grant applications for the “Netherlands and America250” program ahead of America’s 250th anniversary celebration.

This initiative is designed to commemorate the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States by exploring shared history and values.

The program emphasizes the enduring partnership between the two nations, focusing on themes like democracy, justice, and freedom.

It invites creative thinkers to reflect on how these “Dutch roots” continue to shape the American experience today.

Funding and benefits of the America’s 250th grant

Grant amounts typically range from €500 to €10,000, and due to limited available funding, not all applications can be approved.

Dutch Culture USA reserves the right to determine the final amount awarded, which may be lower than the amount requested.

The grant can support costs related to Dutch and/or U.S. participation, including travel and accommodation, transport of artworks, production expenses, and PR and communication costs connected to the Dutch component of the project.

Applicants must submit a complete project budget, a detailed budget plan specifying the requested contribution, and an indication of other income sources if applicable.

Application requirement

Applicants are required to provide a comprehensive project description that explicitly links Dutch and American history or contemporary values.

A detailed project plan is necessary to ensure the proposal aligns with the anniversary’s strategic goals.

The selection committee looks for projects that offer innovative perspectives and demonstrate high artistic or academic quality.

Eligibility

This call is specifically targeted at U.S.-based organizations, including cultural, historical, and educational institutions.

Applicants must be professional artists, makers, organizations, institutions, or legal entities based in either the United States or the Netherlands, and they must be able to demonstrate relevant professional experience and previous cultural activities.

Collaborative projects that involve both Dutch and American partners are highly encouraged.

This ensures a diverse range of voices and a balanced narrative in the final presentation of the project.
