The Khyentse Foundation is inviting applications for its Individual Practice Grants Programme, a funding opportunity designed to support individuals committed to Buddhist practice.

Focus

The grant supports both individual and group retreats, as well as other forms of Buddhist practice rooted in authentic dharma traditions.

The foundation welcomes proposals from practitioners across all schools, traditions and sects of Buddhism, reflecting its inclusive approach to spiritual development and practice.

Funding details

Grants are awarded for a one-year term, with the option for recipients to reapply annually if they wish to continue longer-term practice or retreat plans.

Funding typically ranges from US$500 to US$5,000, although higher amounts may be considered depending on the strength and scope of the proposal.

Full funding is not guaranteed, and partial awards may be offered.

Who can apply

Eligible applicants include:

  • Students or practitioners from any Buddhist tradition.

  • Individuals planning a retreat or structured Buddhist practice.

  • Applicants whose proposals are clearly related to Buddhism.

  • Practitioners who have not applied for another Khyentse Foundation grant in the same funding round.

Application criteria

Applications that are unrelated to Buddhism or Buddhist activity will not be considered.

Applicants may submit only one application per funding round, as multiple submissions or parallel scholarship requests are not permitted.

Deadline

Interested applicants can apply via the Khyentse Foundation website before January 15, 2026.
