The Royal Society has opened nominations for the Royal Society Africa Prize, an annual award recognising Africa-based research scientists whose work demonstrates exceptional innovation, leadership and scientific impact.
Funding details
The prize includes an $18,500 USD research grant to support a project led by the awardee, along with a personal prize of approximately $2,500 USD.
The winner also receives a specially struck commemorative medal and is invited to deliver a Prize Lecture during the Royal Society award ceremony. In-person attendance is expected unless exceptional circumstances prevent it.
Aim
The research grant is intended to support an independent project based in Africa, with potential for growth beyond the initial 12-month funding period.
The award promotes innovation, collaboration and long-term capacity building by backing research that can create lasting scientific impact.
