Aidsfonds has launched a new grant opportunity for organisations working to identify children living with HIV and ensure they begin and remain on treatment.

The funding targets Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania and Nigeria, with a strong emphasis on impactful, community-driven interventions that find undiagnosed children aged 0–14 and link them quickly to antiretroviral care.

Priority areas

The call supports evidence-based projects operating in high-prevalence areas and using data to fill gaps in paediatric HIV services.

Priority will be given to initiatives that:

  • Work directly within communities.

  • Coordinate closely with health facilities.

  • Align with national HIV treatment and care guidelines.

Funding details

A total of up to $3,000,000 USD is available for programme implementation from April 2026 to December 2028.

Each country will receive one grant, with estimated annual budgets of:

  • $135,000 USD in Nigeria.

  • $220,000 USD in Malawi, Tanzania, Mozambique and South Africa.

Funds must support core programme areas such as identifying children with HIV, linking them to treatment, carrying out monitoring activities, performing audits and hosting partner coordination meetings.

Who can apply

Eligible applicants must:

  • Be a national, community-based, non-governmental or non-profit organisation.

  • Have 4–5 years of experience in paediatric HIV programming.

  • Be based in one of the five eligible countries.

  • Demonstrate strong governance and accountability.

  • Apply individually or as a consortium led by a community-based organisation.

Note: International organisations may partner but cannot serve as lead applicants

Requirements

Proposals should outline clear, practical strategies for finding children living with HIV and connecting them to treatment. Funding will not support broad health system upgrades, pharmaceutical purchases, large-scale advocacy campaigns or unrelated staff expansion.

Budgets must focus on core programme areas such as:

  • Data tracking

  • Community linkage

  • Treatment support

  • Monitoring and evaluation

Deadline

Submission of proposals ends on January 30, 2026. Interested NGOs should apply via the Aidsfonds website.
