This weekend’s picks offer an eclectic mix of sci-fi chaos, animated adventures, heartbreaking true stories, literary magic and scandalous sports romance. From Hawkins’ final battle to a long-awaited return to Zootopia and a grief-ridden journey through a Shakespearean retelling, here’s what to watch.

Stranger Things—Season 5 — Netflix

The final chapter of Netflix’s biggest sci-fi saga returns with Hawkins on the brink of destruction. Season 4 ended with Vecna’s shadow spilling into the real world, tearing the town apart. Now Eleven struggles to reclaim her powers while her friends face choices that could cost them everything. With the Upside Down fully invading Hawkins, Season 5 pushes the emotional and supernatural stakes further than ever—bigger, darker and devastatingly intense.

Zootopia 2 – Cinemas

The eagerly anticipated sequel returns to the lively city inhabited by predators and prey together. Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde, both police officers, set about to solve a wave of disappearances threatening Zootopia’s delicate harmony. Their investigation takes them beyond city limits and uncovers a growing movement determined to separate predators and prey once more. Packed with humour, world-building, and social themes, this sequel promises a deeper look at identity, community and courage.

Wildcat — Prime video

This action thriller follows a former special ops squad that reunites for one final mission, an audacious robbery designed to save their commander’s kidnapped daughter. As the team plunges back into the criminal underworld they once escaped, old wounds resurface. Every operative must confront the ghosts of their past while navigating a robbery that grows more dangerous by the minute.

Hamnet — Apple tv

Inspired by Maggie O’Farrell’s award-winning novel, Hamnet tells a deeply moving fictionalised portrait of Shakespeare’s home life, centred on the death of his young son, Hamnet, and the profound grief that shaped some of his most iconic works. The movie focuses on Agnes, Shakespeare’s wife, portrayed as a mystic, a healer and an independent woman filled with love and loss. Visually poetic, the drama raises questions about motherhood, marriage, creativity and the sacrifice that comes with genius.

Sidelined 2: Intercepted — Prime video

This sequel to the 2024 romance-sports drama picks up with star quarterback Drayton and dancer Dallas as they navigate a tougher chapter in their love story. Now recovering from a major career setback, Drayton is fighting his way back to the field, while Dallas begins questioning her future in dance and whether her long-time dreams still fit the woman she’s becoming.

Sidelined 2 dives deeper into the emotional fallout of ambition, healing, and love—asking whether love can survive when life forces them into completely new versions of themselves.
