Gingko has opened its annual call for the Werner Mark Linz Memorial Grant, a funding programme that supports high-quality academic work on the history, art history and religions of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
Focus
The programme supports projects that explore any time period within Gingko’s core subject areas.
Preference is given to proposals that link researchers from the MENA region and the West, as well as applications from scholars based at MENA institutions or researchers of MENA heritage planning to return to academia in the region.
Gingko also encourages submissions from regions where funding for research is limited.
Funding
Selected researchers can receive up to $10,000 to cover direct research costs, including fieldwork, travel, equipment, conference expenses and article-processing fees.
While the programme does not typically fund salaries, teaching replacements, or living costs, it may cover short-term wages for research assistants when justified.
All funded projects must acknowledge Gingko’s support, and book projects are encouraged to submit publishing proposals to Gingko.
