The ALAMIME Consortium has opened applications for its 2026 Certificate in Leadership, Management, and Governance for Malaria Eradication—a specialised training programme designed to strengthen national and regional malaria elimination efforts across Africa.
The initiative seeks to equip malaria programme officers with the skills to apply evidence-based decision-making, improve data analysis and lead systemic change in malaria control operations.
Aim
The programme aims to build leadership capacity for malaria eradication at both national and sub-national levels. Participants will learn to interpret malaria data, manage resources effectively, and adapt strategies to evolving disease patterns.
Beyond individual capacity building, ALAMIME also seeks to foster collaboration within Ministries of Health through ongoing discussion groups and alumni networks that will sustain eradication momentum.
Training structure
The certificate programme offers 180 hours of training, divided into four online modules and a practicum.
Modules will cover:
-
Leadership and data use for malaria elimination
-
Programme management
-
Science and art of elimination
-
Data-driven decision-making
The practicum will involve hands-on analysis of malaria data, development of case studies and formulation of actionable recommendations for programme improvement. Graduates will continue to engage through webinars and an active alumni community.
Benefits
The programme is fully funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, meaning selected participants will not pay tuition fees.
Upon completion, participants will receive a Certificate in Leadership, Management and Governance for Malaria Eradication—and gain access to the ALAMIME alumni network, which offers continuous learning opportunities and professional collaboration across Africa’s malaria leadership ecosystem.
