Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, has launched a new funding opportunity to strengthen routine immunisation across nine Nigerian states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The initiative aims to protect every child from vaccine-preventable diseases by increasing immunisation coverage, addressing hesitancy, and enhancing community engagement—particularly in hard-to-reach areas.

Focus

The grant seeks to identify and vaccinate zero-dose and underimmunised children while tackling vaccine refusal through targeted outreach and awareness campaigns.

It also aims to enhance data collection and reporting in health facilities, advocate for stronger funding, and promote policy support for immunisation at all levels.

Funding details

The programme will officially begin in March 2026 following a three-month application review and contracting process. Each grant will run for up to 21 months, concluding in December 2027.

Funding allocations vary by state:

Kano – $1,000,000
Katsina – $800,000
Jigawa – $500,000
Zamfara – $800,000
Sokoto – $600,000
Kebbi – $600,000
Bayelsa – $400,000
Kaduna – $800,000
Bauchi – $600,000
FCT – $400,000

Who can apply

The opportunity is open to registered civil society organisations (CSOs) and not-for-profit entities operating within Nigeria’s health sector.

Eligibility requirements include:

● Registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) throughout the grant period
● At least three years of experience in child health or immunisation programmes
● Proven presence in the proposed state or local government area
● Endorsement or clearance from NPHCDA or the relevant SPHCDA
● A US dollar bank account and sound financial management systems
● Average annual expenditure of at least half the amount requested

Requirements

Applicants must submit a detailed proposal outlining how their initiatives will reach zero-dose children, strengthen data use and promote local ownership of immunisation efforts.

Organisations may apply for multiple states but will only be awarded one grant. Proposals should clearly demonstrate measurable impact, innovation and sustainability in improving vaccine delivery to underserved communities.

Deadline

The deadline for applications is December 2, 2025. Visit the Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance website to apply.
