The Rising Tide Foundation for Clinical Cancer Research (RTFCCR) is inviting applications for its 2025 grant round, offering funding for innovative, patient-centred clinical trials aimed at improving the lives of cancer patients.

Who can apply

Eligible applicants must:

  • Hold a doctoral degree and a faculty or equivalent appointment at an academic or research institution.

  • Be either early-career or established independent investigators with proven experience in managing clinical trials and ensuring participant safety.

  • Be part of international research teams, as the foundation places no geographical restrictions or limits on the type of cancer studied.
However, each grantee may only hold one active grant from the foundation at a time.

Focus

RTFCCR funds interventional clinical trials that involve meaningful patient participation.
If a patient partnership is not yet in place, applicants may apply for a pre-application grant to develop that component.

Projects involving academic-developed or generic drugs are eligible. Trials using on-patent drugs will only be considered in exceptional cases, such as rare cancers with no existing treatment options.

Project eligibility

The foundation prioritises:

  • Pediatric cancer trials focusing on innovative and less toxic therapies.

  • High-risk, high-reward projects that could significantly advance cancer care.

  • Early or precancerous intervention studies, particularly in high-risk populations.

Applicants proposing early-detection projects must provide preliminary data showing a strong connection between the proposed method and the targeted cancer type.

Application requirements

  • The detection or intervention method in early-stage trials must be owned by the applying institution or investigator.

  • Proposals involving immunotherapy must be discussed with the foundation before formal submission.

  • Studies focused on population-wide screening or companion diagnostics are not eligible for funding.

Funding support

The foundation provides up to USD 100,000 per year for a maximum of five years.
Funding is milestone-driven and may cover:

  • Non-reimbursable patient care costs

  • Personnel salaries

  • Study-related expenses

  • Equipment used exclusively for the funded project

Deadline

The closing date is November 23, 2025.
