Nigerian Army opens 2025 recruitment: Here’s how to apply

The Nigerian Army has officially announced the commencement of applications for the 2025 Regular Recruit Intake (RRI), offering young Nigerians a chance to serve their country while building a fulfilling career in the armed forces.

Interested applicants are advised to carefully review all eligibility requirements—particularly the Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) qualification—before proceeding with their applications.

Eligibility requirements

To qualify for the 2025 recruitment exercise, applicants must:

  • Be Nigerian citizens by birth, single and possess a valid National Identity Card/NIN and BVN printout.

  • Be medically, physically and psychologically fit according to Nigerian Army standards.

  • Have no criminal conviction by any court of law.

  • Present a valid birth certificate issued by the National Population Commission, a hospital, or a local government authority or provide an age declaration.

  • Provide a valid certificate of state of origin.

  • Meet the minimum height requirement of 1.68m for males and 1.65m for females.

  • Be between 18 and 22 years old for non-trades applicants and not more than 26 years old for tradesmen/women as of December 30, 2025.

  • Possess at least four passes, including English Language, in not more than two sittings in WASSCE, GCE, NECO, NABTEB or NBAIS examinations.

Trades applicants must additionally possess a Trade Test or City & Guilds Certificate, with full details available on the official recruitment portal.

Application process

Interested and qualified candidates are to complete their online registration via the official Nigerian Army recruitment portal.

Application period: September 29 – November 14, 2025.
