Search for Common Ground is inviting applications for its Small Grants Program aimed at addressing the root causes of violent conflict in and around the Dadaab refugee complex in Kenya

 Priority areas

The initiative seeks to achieve two core goals:

  1. Build local capacity: Strengthen the ability of key stakeholders—especially women and youth—from both refugee and host communities to address conflict drivers linked to climate change and environmental shocks.

  2. Foster cooperation: Promote collaboration between refugee and host populations to advance unity and shared progress.

Selected projects will receive up to USD 4,500 in funding and must be implemented within one month (November 2025).

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must meet the following conditions:

  • Be bona fide residents of the Hagadera and Fafi Hagin refugee camps or host communities of Hagadera (Bore Hole 5) and Fafi Hagin.

  • Represent or be led by women, youth or persons with disabilities, including disability-led organisations.

  • Demonstrate:

    • Environmental sustainability and alignment with their organisation’s mission.

    • Capacity to directly manage and implement the proposed project.

    • A plan for sustaining the project’s impact beyond the initial month.

    • Evidence of relevant past work and innovative, creative approaches.

Organisations that previously received funding under this programme are not eligible to reapply. However, those who were not selected in earlier rounds may submit new proposals under the current criteria.

Deadline

Applications close on October 12, 2025.
