The Spencer Foundation has announced a new call for applications under its Research-Practice Partnerships (RPP) Grant Programme, an initiative designed to foster strong, ongoing collaborations between educational researchers and practitioners.
The programme aims to support teams working jointly to investigate pressing problems in education, produce rigorous evidence, and generate findings that are both useful to practitioners and contribute to broader educational knowledge.
Funding
Successful projects under the RPP Grant Programme can receive up to $400,000 in funding, supporting intensive research and partnership activities over a period of up to three years.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
-
Principal Investigators (PIs) must be based at a nonprofit organisation or public institution capable of serving as the fiscal agent.
-
Eligible institutions include universities, research centres and K–12 school systems.
-
Partnerships should demonstrate a clear commitment to both high-quality research and practical educational impact.
-
PIs and Co-PIs are generally expected to hold a doctoral degree in an academic or professional field, although the Foundation may recognise equivalent professional experience or qualifications on a case-by-case basis.
Application process
The RPP application process involves two stages:
-
Letter of Intent (LOI): Applicants introduce their proposed partnership and research focus.
-
Full Proposal: Only applicants whose LOIs are approved will be invited to submit a detailed proposal.
Deadline
The closing date for submitting the Letter of Intent (LOI) is November 14, 2025. Visit the Spencer Foundation website to apply.
