The UBA Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of the United Bank for Africa, has announced the launch of its annual National Essay Competition for secondary school students in Nigeria.
Now in its latest edition, the competition is part of the foundation’s commitment to education and youth development. It aims to cultivate a culture of reading and writing while encouraging young people to sharpen their critical thinking and articulate their ideas on contemporary issues.
Essay theme
The contest promotes academic excellence and healthy intellectual engagement among senior secondary school students. This year’s theme is “Will AI Replace Human Intelligence? What are your thoughts?” Students are expected to present well-researched and original perspectives on the topic.
Funding
The top three winners will receive grants to support their university education in any African institution.
- N5 million for the first-place winner.
- N3 million for the second-place winner.
- N2.5 million for the third-place winner.
Who can apply
The competition is specifically designed for senior students currently enrolled in a secondary school in Nigeria.
How to apply
Interested students should submit their essays online through the official UBA Foundation Educational Grant portal. Submissions should include students’ personal details, including their school names.
