The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) office in Ghana invites photographers to participate in its World Food Day 2025 photo contest. This initiative aims to use the power of images to highlight the critical connection between water and food security in the country.

The competition encourages photographers to capture compelling stories that reflect this year’s important theme.

Focus

Themed “Water is life, water is food. Leave no one behind,” the contest seeks to raise public awareness about how vital water is for producing the food we eat and sustaining life. The FAO hopes that the submitted photographs will inspire viewers to take action towards managing water resources more sustainably.

Benefits of participating

Participants have the opportunity to gain recognition for their work. The top ten finalists will have their photographs featured in an exhibition. From this group, the top three winners will be awarded special prizes for their outstanding contributions. All finalists will also have their work promoted across the FAO’s various digital platforms, offering wide exposure.

Eligibility

The competition is open to Ghana-based amateur and professional photographers aged 18 and above.

Application details

To enter, participants must email their original, high-resolution photograph to FAO-GH@fao.org with the subject line “WFD Photo Contest”. Submissions must include a short caption of up to 150 words explaining how the photo relates to the theme, along with the photographer’s full name and contact information.

Deadline

All submissions are due by October 5, 2025. Winners will be announced on World Food Day. Visit FAO website to apply.
