A global call has been issued for the next generation of environmental innovators to step forward and present their solutions for a sustainable future. The Earth Prize, a prestigious environmental sustainability competition, is now open to teenage students worldwide.
The Earth Prize initiative aims to discover and support fresh, impactful ideas from young minds dedicated to addressing the planet’s most pressing environmental issues. The competition serves as a unique platform, connecting students with leading sustainability experts and providing resources to help turn their visionary concepts into reality.
The core mission of The Earth Prize is to inspire and empower young people to become active agents of environmental change. The competition encourages students aged 13-19 to think critically about environmental problems and develop innovative, tangible solutions.
By participating, students gain invaluable experience in project development, scientific research, and creative problem-solving, all while contributing to a global movement for sustainability. The program seeks to cultivate a generation of environmentally conscious leaders ready to tackle future challenges.
Funding and Unparalleled Benefits
- The winning team will be awarded $100,000, to be split equally between the team members and their school.
- Three runner-up teams will each receive $10,000, also to be divided between the students and their school.
- Beyond the financial rewards, the competition offers significant educational and networking benefits. The top ten finalist teams of The Earth Prize will be paired with university student mentors, and the top three finalist teams will be assigned high-profile mentors to help guide their projects.
The Earth Prize Teacher of the Year Award
Recognizing the crucial role educators play in guiding and inspiring young innovators, The Earth Prize also honors an exceptional teacher.
The Educator of the Year award grants $10,000 to a teacher who has demonstrated outstanding leadership and support for their students throughout the competition.
This award highlights the importance of mentorship in nurturing the next generation of environmental stewards.
Eligibility: Who can participate in The Earth Prize?
- The competition is open to students from any school, anywhere in the world, as long as they are between the ages of 13 and 19.
- Students can register individually or form teams of up to five members.
- To participate, a teacher from their school must register first to act as their supervisor. This ensures that students have dedicated support and guidance from their educational institution throughout the process.
Application requirements: The path to entry
The registration process is straightforward. Interested schools and teachers can sign up on The Earth Prize website. Once a teacher is registered, they can begin registering their students.
Students will then gain access to exclusive learning materials and video content from The Earth Prize Mentors, a group of 40 world-renowned environmental experts. These resources are designed to help students brainstorm, develop, and refine their ideas for submission.
