Are you young inventors? Enter the 10th Africa Energy Innovation Challenge (AEIC), a big chance for young people all over Africa to show off their smart ideas about energy.
Our main goal is to help you build or improve something important using things from your local area. The big theme this year is “Transforming Energy Transition, Youth Employment & Local Manufacturing.”
You can come up with a new idea or make an old one better. This could be for things like helping businesses that grow food (agri-business), social projects, money apps (fintech), or systems to manage energy in homes or offices. You should use local materials and knowledge!

Who can enter the 10th Africa Energy Innovation Competition?
- The competition wants your ideas to help other young people get good jobs or start their own businesses. It is all about moving towards cleaner energy, creating more jobs, and helping young people find work that matters.
- If you are between 18 and 35 years old and live in Africa, you can be a part of this!
- You need to form a team of at least three people to work on your idea.
- Your team must have at least one woman and one man to make sure everyone is included.
Funding and other benefit details
- If your idea is chosen as one of the best, you could get a cash prize of up to $10,000 USD to build or grow your solution!
- You also get to show your idea with a poster and a short video at the 2025 Nigeria Energy Forum.
- You’ll meet important leaders and other smart young people who can help you.
- Plus, you can go to special workshops to learn how to make your business strong and get help from experts.
Important dates
- You can start sending in your ideas from August 15, 2025.
- The last day to send your idea is September 15, 2025.
- You will be told if your idea made it to the next round by October 15, 2025.
- If you made it, your final ideas are due by October 30, 2025.

The 10th Africa Energy Innovation Challenge (AEIC) invites young inventors aged 18 to 35 across Africa to present innovative energy ideas, with a focus on transforming energy transition, youth employment, and local manufacturing.
Participants can propose new or improved ideas utilizing local materials and expertise in areas such as agricultural business, social development, fintech, and energy management.
