The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is calling for proposals for projects that will help bring peace and rebuild lives in the northeast Nigerian states of Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe (BAY).

This is a chance for organizations to work directly with communities affected by years of conflict and make a real difference in people’s lives.

The goal is to help former Boko Haram members and other ex-fighters return to their communities in a peaceful way, while also supporting civilians who have been hurt by the violence.

The project will use community-led ideas to promote healing, justice, and economic recovery.

Focus areas

  • Activities will include emotional and mental health support, peacebuilding sessions, community education, and helping people start small businesses or find work.
  • The project will also promote traditional ways of solving disputes and encourage dialogue between victims, survivors, and former fighters.
  • The project aims to reach more than 50,000 people, with at least 30% being women.
  • It hopes to rebuild trust, strengthen community relationships, and create safer, more united neighborhoods in the BAY States.Responsibilities of chosen organisations
  • The chosen organization will help communities carry out traditional reconciliation processes, start or grow local savings groups, support small business activities, and work with local government to keep track of progress.
  • They will also work closely with the National Human Rights Commission and community groups to make sure the project fits local needs.

    Application criteria

  • To apply, your organization must be officially registered in Nigeria and have a strong management system, good financial records, and proof of completing similar work in the past.
  • You must demonstrate experience working in Northeast Nigeria
  • Experience working in the Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states is a plus.
  • Your plan should also show how you will promote equality between men and women and involve local partners.

Funding details

  • The grant money is $190,000 for each state
  • Applicants must prepare a budget, keeping in mind that the project will last six months—one month for planning and five months for carrying out activities.
  • Proposals must include a clear plan, a way to track results, and steps to ensure quality.
